Percy Spencer, the inventor of the microwave oven, didn’t say “Hey, I want to heat a steak up!” What actually happened is that he had a candy bar in his pocket that melted when he was near an active radar set while he was working on building magnetrons. He decided to investigate it. Eventually him and some friends wanted to see if other food could be heated. They then enclosed the system so that no electromagnetic waves would escape and he observed what happened to different foods. Then the company he worked for patented it.
There are so many scientific discoveries and inventions that happen just on accident. It isn’t a fucking checklist. No one sits there organizing which scientific discoveries and inventions will be made when.

Testable ideas are the basis of science. And since none of his ideas were really able to be tested, Freud wasn’t a scientist. He was a guy with some ideas who decided to write them down.

Oh my God, I was watching the news last night and apparently a shopping centre in Perth (in Western Australia) is trialling female only car parks.

I am a woman, and a human being. Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant has just signed HB1523, which will protect virtually anyone in the state who discriminates against LGBT people on the basis of “religious freedom” as well as refuse to recognize transgender people’s true gender identity.
Among the despicable things in this bill law:
Individuals, religious organizations and certain businesses will face no punishment from the government for anti-LGBT discrimination
That includes discrimination in housing, employment, services, and especially everything specifically related to weddings
It’s also anti-premarital sex, protecting those who believe that “sexual relations are properly reserved” only for man-woman marriages
It specifically says that a person’s gender can only be determined by “anatomy and genetics at time of birth”
Obviously, that means it blocks transgender people from using the sex-segregated bathrooms that make them feel safe, comfortable and affirmed
The government will protect counseling services, foster care and adoption services who refuse LGBT people, EVEN IF those services receive government funding
People who refuse transition-related healthcare to transgender people, including mental health or fertility services, are also protected

I’ve recently found out that an Artist I liked (and was actually planning on buying from) traces.
You’ve probably seen his traced works floating around here and there, all of cute headshots of girls, but if you haven’t seen his work he owns this storenvy where you can see his stuff.
But everything if not all of the things he’s selling is traced.
Some examples:
He takes images from from a company called BlueFairy, which to my understanding is a ball joint doll company.
The thing is he doesn’t even flip the image or change the color to be something less obvious, it’s straight up traced and he’s making so much money from being uncreative and original.
Please spread the word and encourage people to stop buying his traced prints!!

but shit dude, there are 12 images that match up perfectly to bluefairy’s company photos. even the hair and some of the clothes are exactly the same (there’s maybe one or 2 from the examples linked to in the original post that differ slightly, and that’s just for added volume or bangs). i’m willing to give the benefit of a doubt now and then, but there are a few too many similarities for me to ignore, and there seems pretty good reason for bluefairy to not have backed down when he and them were apparently communicating through lawyers.
afaik they are/were trying to get a public apology from kaoru hasegawa to no avail, and they haven’t managed to shut his storeenvy down either. bluefairy didn’t raise this issue as much as they could’ve because he countersued them for libel, so they’ve kept quiet about it since their first announcement while discussions are ongoing.
his site says that he considers it ‘resolved’ (oct 15, 2015) but the last message bluefairy sent me (oct 19, 2015) said they were going to keep pursuing the matter. i haven’t had any updates since then, so i’m not sure what’s going on now

This made me really sad when I found out about it because I used to actually follow Kaoru Hasegawa on here.
If it was one or two then I could see how it might be coincidence, but with the number of pictures that line up so perfectly with Blue Fairy photos is pretty much impossible to deny.
