A U.K.-based charity is warning people not to purchase or adopt wolfdogs that look like the direwolves that appear on Game of Thrones.
Artisan Rare Breeds has already rescued nine wolfdogs from homes recently. Wolfdogs are a cross between wolves and “shephard-type dogs.” The animals rescued by the group so far have all been Czechoslovakian wolfdogs bred by the Czech military. Unlike other dogs that may be rescued from homes, wolfdogs will never be placed in another home. Many require owners to have a Dangerous Animals license.
Director Wayne May suspects that people have been adopting these dogs because they look like the direwolves on Game of Thrones. Purchasing a third-generation wolfdog is legal in the U.K., but he estimates that the wolfdogs he rescues might be up to 50 percent wolf.
“To have these animals as family pets is really irresponsible,” he told The Telegraph. “Some of the ones we’ve rescued I reckon have more wolf in them than dog, which is illegal. I know they’re seen on telly in Game of Thrones, but people need to realise that these are basically wild animals and need to be treated with respect.”
These wolfdogs are often difficult to take care of. They eat raw meat and chicken because dog food upsets their stomachs.
While people buy them as pups, May says they find that they’re unable to cope with them when they get older, citing one example where a wolfdog caused £4,000 in damage after it was left alone with two chihuahuas for a couple hours.
Although cute in appearance, the direwolves on the show are difficult to raise, even in the fictional universe. Initially, Eddard Stark wanted to kill the direwolf pups, but he was persuaded by Jon Snow to let the Stark children take care of them on their own. Loyal to the Starks, they may seem like docile pets until someone tries to harm their owners. After the first season, Game of Thrones relied on CGI to show the direwolves on TV.
Sophie Turner, whose character Sansa was the first to lose her direwolf on the show, ended up adopting the dog who played Lady. That dog was a Northern Inuit.
May hopes that there is more restriction on breeding and selling wolfdogs, saying that “looks can be deceiving.”
What kind of dumbass leaves an actual wolfdog alone with two chihuahuas?? Good Lord.
My roommate and a friend have been watching game of thrones lately and the “wolves” they used in season one just killed me. Like literally my first thought when I saw one was that a bunch of morons are going to go buy German Shepherds and such legitimately believing they’re part wolf.
The fact that people can be so easily influenced to buy certain pets by things like TV shows and movies is honestly concerning. It’s like the surge in popularity of the Dalmatian after Disney got ahold of them. “Oh, that thing was cool on TV, I want to commit to owning one for the next 1-2 decades.” ??? Never mind how difficult it is to care for, it looks cool! That’s what’s important, right?
Peta’s famous for not really knowing what they’re talking about.
periodic reminder: PETA is trash and they kill pets.
Fun fact: not only did they get the canon horribly wrong, they also had featured underage drinking in the game.
See, you can tell how informed and passionate PETA is about their cause by the way they spend time and money on things like this instead of legitimately focusing on animal rights.
But maybe that’s better than them actually doing something, considering that when they DO make a pathetic attempt to help, all they do is spread false information and the animals end up worse off than before, if not dead.
Lengthy article on why the (according to them) 35% gap in college graduation rates is a problem because it denies women suitable fuck partners… NOT BECAUSE IT REPRESENTS A GENERATION OF UNDER EDUCATED MEN…
Meet Feminism.
It’s good to hear from you again, I missed your posts
Hah, don’t go to college unless it’s vital for some important field. I’d hate saying this, but the higher education system is utterly corrupted.
Are men happier working or going to school?
Part of the issue is that boys are discriminated against in school. When they’re treated fairly and taught properly, boys do very well in school just like girls.
I did hate grade school for a multitude of reasons.
Do teachers have biases against boys or are boys just taught in a way that doesn’t work well for them
Both, actually. They’re held to a feminine standard of behavior and it’s been proven that female teachers especially single out boys and embarrass them more. Boys receive a lot more attention in the classroom but it’s usually negative attention whereas girls are given mostly positive attention
Boys taught using synthetic phonics were able to read words significantly better than girls at the age of seven, with all pupils ahead of the standard for their age.
Boys were 20 months ahead while girls were 14 months more advanced than expected.
At the end of the study, boys’ reading comprehension was as good as that of the girls, but their word reading and spelling was better.
Children from disadvantaged areas who received synthetic phonics training kept up with children from well off areas until the seventh year at school, whereas those taught with usual methods fell behind five years earlier.
Now read that again, more carefully this time. Both boys and girls taught using this method did better than the methods we currently use. However, boys did *significantly* better than girls. Consequently, we use the method that is worse for both boys and girls because it’s worse for boys than girls.
And you find this in teacher bias too…
A new study on gender disparities in elementary-school performance — the first study to examine both objective and subjective performance — found that boys were given lower grades than girls, even in cases (such as math and science) where their test scores were either equal to or higher than the girls’ test scores.
It seems like out-and-out discrimination, except there is an interesting wrinkle: teachers didn’t downgrade boys who had identical test scores to girls if they seemed to share the girls’ positive attitude toward learning. In fact, the opposite seemed to occur: the well-socialized boys received a small grade “bonus” for their good behavior relative to other boys, suggesting that teachers may be overcompensating when they encounter boys whose behavior exceeds expectations. In other words, boys who match girls on both test scores and behavior get better grades than girls do, but boys who don’t are graded more harshly.
Boys are viewed as defective girls in our educational system.
So if one group is doing better than another group, they’d rather lower the success of everyone so it’s “equal” than have both groups do really well but one doing better?
Why is “fairness” more important than children’s success?
i see a lot of reblogs for Bernie here but we have to make sure we’re taking actions to ensure he has a fighting chance in this arena. His opponents have the money and the media circus backing them but he has us, so let’s run it!
The primaries are elections held months before the ACTUAL presidential election that basically decide who the main candidates for each party will be, specifically, who will be listed on the ballot in the election in november. if we want Bernie to stand a chance at all he MUST be on the ballot in November. For that to become a reality we need everyone reading this to get them and their friends to vote in the Primaries! I’ve used the site www.voteforbernie.com to list the following info below so you can all see it easily enough and share it with just a click. Check your state below for the appropriate information on when and how to vote in the primaries!
Below are the registration and voting dates for all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Washington DC (as a separate voting date). Be sure to register! Click your state to find out how! Below is a key to reading the following information!
Some states have open registration meaning it doesn’t matter which party you’re registered as, you can still vote for Bernie.
*** Some states are CLOSED meaning you MUST be registered as DEMOCRAT by the date’s i’ve listed to vote for Bernie.
*~* Some states are SEMI-CLOSED meaning you must be registed as DEMOCRAT or UNDECLARED to vote for Bernie.
# means you can register or switch parties the day of voting at the voting station.

REMINDER: About half of the states allow 17 year olds to vote in the primaries if they will be 18 years of age by the actual election. Check if your state let’s you do this and you can help if it is a state that allows this!
Even if you aren’t planning to vote for him, this is important information.
SOME PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT DIVERSITY DOESN’T JUST MEAN THE ABSENCE OF WHITE PEOPLE
What is the malfunction that leads to this thinking?
Physical differences aren’t the only way to have diversity. That’s the “malfunction” leading to that thinking. People think and act differently, have different upbringings, react to different situations in different ways from each other, etc. That is also diversity.
You can have two characters of different racial background that are virtually indistinguishable in character and personality. You could have an entire cast of non-white characters and still have them all be based on the same overused stock characters seen everywhere else.
Physical diversity is great and important (even from simply a design standpoint), and I’m not by any means trying to say it isn’t, but it isn’t the only important factor in creating diversity. There should still be diversity even when you remove the outer “shell” that you see when looking at just appearance.
It looks like I was being pretty unclear with my earlier post. My mistake, really. I can see how it was interpreted wrongly.
I was talking about the kind of thinking that equates “removing white people” to “good diversity”. The knowing, deliberate exclusion of an arbitrary ethnic group being a prerequisite to something being considered diverse.
Ah, okay. I can also see how I should have interpreted it in that way. My bad! Honestly it’s quite relieving that you aren’t one of the people who think that way. Thank you for being civil about it.
Edit: Also… The way people make that mistake, I’d assume, is because they see labels and surface attributes as the most important aspects of a character. That or they just don’t have a well-rounded understanding of what all “diversity” includes.

The pictures above are simply there to show the issues I’m having with the program.
As one can see, I am unable to alter or post the hands and the buttons in the menu/interface are missing their names or are partially shown. I had already uninstalled and reinstalled it twice now and TeraWell doesn’t explain what to do in this sort of situation.
If anyone can help me in this situation, I would greatly appreciate it. Other that these known issues, the program works fine and I’m able to save/export any poses I’ve made.
Okay, now that’s really weird. I have not seen this happen. I assume this is the problem that the last person who sent an ask was having and I didn’t understand.
I feel like the annoying “did you try turning it off and back on again” person saying this, but the only suggestion I have is uninstalling and reinstalling to see if maybe it just didn’t install some of the files correctly. I’m limited in my understanding of computer stuff so that’s the best I have, unfortunately.
Actually, you can delete the tags in the top right corner (the hand, pose, morph icons and whatnot, of which you have the hand tag selected here) by right clicking, I believe. If you do that, then in the upper left select Item -> Add Tag -> Hand Tag to try “restarting” that tag, essentially. I suppose it’s always possible the Hand tool just loaded wrong on start up, so it’s worth a shot.
I want to reiterate that I’m in no way associated with Terawell and I just shared the program because it was a cool thing I found. So I only know what I’ve figured out myself. As far as weird mishaps like this or installation issues, I didn’t run into any, so all I can really offer is my best guess on things. And I don’t mean that to come across as me being like “stop asking me things omg”, because I really don’t mind questions and I’m happy to try to help. I just want to make sure people know I can’t necessarily offer a solution for technical problems.
Why do I always end up leaving ten miles of commentary when I add something to a post
like I physically lack the ability to be “short and sweet” with just about anything i have to say and it’s annoying
