During the development of Higurashi: When They Cry, Ryukishi07 would find inspiration from his day job as a government worker. Initially, he had been able to balance his day job and his writing job as it would only take him 6 months to complete an arc of the story. However, during the production of the Himatsubushi-hen arc, his work had increased dramatically, causing the fourth game to be released one year after the previous one. He did admit that during this time, he would secretly write for this episode in the middle of his day job, going back and forth between the document and an excel sheet.
