hey y’all in honor of mewtwos’ birthday today watch the original japanese sub of pokemon the first movie. he isn’t made into a villian like the english version but rather a very complex character. the whole opening scene was cut from the american version for being too dark where it goes into his backstory more and his relationship to a dying girl and honestly it’s one of the best things i’ve ever seen the pokemon company make. not to mention the professor is animated as an homage to osamu tezuka’s style (author of astro boy).

I am uploading this wip of a Drawing of Mewtwo I was working on since today is his birthday but I forgot my charger at work and can no longer work on my cintiq ;D I dont have any backup devices I can Use so fml enjoy this wip, will have the finished piece hopefully by tommorow

Life. The great miracle… and the great mystery. Since the beginning, humans and Pokémon alike have searched for its meaning. Many strange and wondrous legends evolved from the pursuit of life’s mysteries.

But none is stranger than this tale of the most powerful Pokémon of all.

I really like the visuals in the beginning of the first Pokemon movie, with the contrast between the blue of the lake that Mew is in and the orange brown liquid of Mewtwo’s tank. So I wanted to try and recreate that.
