I was on the Coinstar website and found the list of “unacceptable items” to put in a Coinstar machine. Some of these are so bizarre and so specific that you know someone’s put one in there before.

Need a cheat sheet for wizard finance? We got you
Based on the calculations of an inspired fan, we put together a list of how many galleons you can expect to shell out to peep the next Chudley Cannons game.
please artist friends who sells prints at anime conventions: please buy yourself counterfeit detect pens because my friend just got fake bills (and I heard some few other artists did get fake bills too) so do yourself a favor and buy them….thank you
an addition:
counterfeit U.S. hundreds are often made from doctored tens. a counterfeit pen will not detect the fake hundred is fake because it’s technically a real bill, just doctored.
the quickest, most reliable way is to hold the bill up to the light and see if the watermark matches the face on the bill (should be to the right). with the new hundreds you can just kinda wiggle ‘em, the blue line will have little digits that wiggle. if those are stationary it’s fake.
here’s a link to the united states secret service website on more ways to detect fake bills
tl;dr counterfeit pens aren’t reliable
P.S. some people will use hundred dollar bills to case a business or seller to see if you have the money to break it. it’s a good idea to have a minimum purchase to break a hundred or a fifty to prevent being robbed later.
