Cows love being cuddled

I’m sure you’ve all been introduced to a pretty blue-eyed husky as half wolf before, it’s all too common and all to dangerous. Huskies and other northern-breed dogs are often mistaken for wolves and shot, trapped, or poisoned due to people who misrepresent them as being “wolves” or “wolfdogs”. People do it because they think wolves and wolfdogs are cool and a status symbol and/or because they were mislead about their animal or other animals they have known or been around. This is why spreading accurate information is so vital.
Wolfdog misrepresentation is a huge problem with numerous real world consequences. Domestic dogs that are misrepresented as (or mistaken for) wolfdogs are euthanized in shelters, confiscated from their owners, and shot by hunters. On the other side of things, real wolfdogs are being purchased by people who expect them to act like regular dogs and they end up being abused, neglected, and even abandoned or killed when their unwitting owners realize they are not as easy to handle as the domestic dogs they were expecting.
In an effort to spread awareness about wolfdog misrepresentation, I made this design and am selling stickers. I need to sell at least 42 stickers to be able to order this batch and have to be paid for before I can get the order started. They are $5 each and every other one you add will only be $2(So 2 would be $7, 3 would be $9 and so on) and $1 for shipping in the U.S., $2 for international. They are diecut so this measurement isn’t 100% exact but they will be 4in tall and roughly 6in long. The details should be more than visible on that size! They will be full color, white polypropylene edge with UV laminate for outdoor durability and scuff resistance.
Payments can be sent directly via Paypal to YourDogisNotaWolf@gmail.com. The time they take to ship is only dependent on how long it takes to sell 42, they ship from the manufacturer in 1-2 business days from when I place the order so they’ll get here quick!
I saw what looked to be a shepard mix outside Asda today and they were claiming it was half wolf. Now i don’t know if thats true as im no exprt but i do know that a 50% wolf dog is likely an f1 hybrid. You must have a licence in the UK for any wolf dogs that are f1 or f2 generations. You would be very hard pressed to get a DWA license that allowed you to walk an f1 generation wolfdog in public, without a muzzle and using a standard pet dog fabric lead and collar. You’d be even more hard pressed to get a license where your f1 wolfdog was free to live in your home. They will insist on having secure enclosures and a shelter out here with limitations on movement outside of that enclosure.
An f3 generation wolfdog 3 generations removed from any wolf content is legal and that is not half or 50% wolf. just saying ‘half’ wolf rather than ‘part’ wolf can cause a world of bother.
My tutor at uni used to work issuing DWA licenses and saw or heard of several Shepard/husky type mixes to because they were claimed to be ‘half wolf’. Most seemed to be exceptionally low content. Most owners couldn’t prove they were f3 or beyond and were adamant they now wanted a license for their ‘DWA’ husky. A lot of owners were fined thousands of pounds and many of the dogs were (legally) destroyed. Most of those dogs owners willingly had them destroyed to avoid any hassle. She once heard of a genuine f1 wolf dog living in a family home without a license. It had killed the familys two cats and a neighbours cat. It was working on destroying everything in the home. A neighbour complained about it to the authorities. The family had a 6 month old baby and while the investigators were in their house they had the nursery door wide open where the baby slept with the wolfdog wandering around while their mauled cats were buried in the back yard. The wolfdog had to be destroyed and the owners got away with a hefty fine. They were lucky not to face child endangerment charges. The owners had met a ‘wolfdog’ who was a great family pet but was likely very low content if any so got their own genuine f1 wolfdog hybrid.
Misrepresentation kills and it isn’t just a problem in the USA or such places. Its killing right here in the UK too. Its killing in a small quiet village and its killing in a city apartment block.
Thank you for sharing this kind of info! I’m not overly familiar with the laws over in the UK so this was really interesting to read and I am just amazed that people would claim to have an animal that’s “half wolf” in that kind of environment. People really don’t think about the consequences of their actions. I really hope more and more light gets shed on the issue of wolfdog misrepresentation and spreading this kind of information and these stories help do that so thank you for adding this.
