In Super Mario 64, it’s possible to reach the island in the middle of the underground lake in Hazy Maze Cave by sliding under the elevator from the red coin room to the rolling boulder room as it’s descending.
The other day I went for the 100 coin star in Rainbow Ride except the last coin I grabbed was on one of the fricking carpets and I panicked and jumped for it but apparently the invisible floors marking the bottom part of the course count as “ground” enough for it to let you claim a star and then die.
