Sorry for the poor Microsoft Word quality, but here’s a master chart I made of all the petunia and petunia mixes pulled from the market for illegal genetic modification, as of 5/25/2017. These plants are slated to be destroyed. (See here for official USDA notice)
Someone with the background info care to explain this story? Why/how they were genetically modified and why it was illegal? Is it illegal to GM petunias? Did they do something really weird with it? I’m curious.
I understand why people don’t know, though. I’ve been interested in bugs since I was a kid and I only learned that these guys aren’t “real” ladybugs a few years ago. At the very least, it seems they do actually eat aphids, which is why they were spread globally in the first place (unlike some other intentionally introduced species that fail at their intended purpose). Why people didn’t just use local species that do the same thing, I have no idea. Species becoming invasive after introduction for human use seems to be a recurring theme throughout history, unfortunately. Cane toads are another bad example.
the latest evil secret of vaccines: mutant transgender potion
not my screenshot, I never would have protected these names
so if you bust a nut in someone are you gonna mutate them?
Wait, do vaccines have human DNA in them?
As far as I can tell, some of the vaccines are made from human embryo cells (such as Hepatitis, MMR, Chickenpox, one of the Rabies vaccines, etc). What this means though, is that for the growth of the virus, human embryo cells from aborted fetuses may be used. Other embryonic cells used include rats, chickens, monkeys, etc.
That being said, the thought of these vaccines being ‘mutant transgender potions’ is the stupidest shit I’ve heard since hearing I could buy the Brooklyn Bridge for a really cheap price.
Basically, even with those vaccines containing such materials, the processing of the vaccines to make them fit for use would cause complete breakdown of human DNA molecule. On top of which, external DNA would not automatically incorporate itself into the cellular DNA for reproduction. If it did, gene therapy would be INFINITELY easier than it currently is.
According to this logic, the more spooge a woman has had inside her, the closer she is to being a trans guy.
According to this logic we should all be plant mutants because we ingest plant DNA.
I get nauseous when non-vegans talk about getting a pet micro pig. Pigs are so incredibly intelligent, I wonder what would go on in their minds if they saw their caretaker eat bacon.
Disgusting.
Pigs are cannibalistic, it would want some.
Also: not every non-vegetarian or non-vegan eats bacon sooo????
Preach it, Sammiwolfe! I’m an omnivorous individual and I almost never eat bacon or any pig for that matter because the flavor makes me nauseous
Maybe someone wants a mini pig because they’re allergic to everything else? They are highly intelligent animals and they love their owners and show affection much like a dog would. My grandmother used to have one.
Why can’t we all just love and let people get the kind of pet they want to get. As long as the owner isn’t abusing the pig in any way then who cares if they happen to eat bacon during breakfast?
Pet pigs and livestock pigs are different animals with different relations to people. I would love my pet more than some random animal I’ve never interacted with.
What upsets me most about people talking about getting a “micro pig” is that most of them actually think you can get a pig that will stay the size of a small dog forever and then, because too few people actually research pets before they get them, they will inevitably neglect, abuse, or abandon that pet when it starts to very rapidly grow.
I’m still laughing at OP not realizing pigs will eat literally anything.
I’m laughing at the fact they think a pig would see bacon and somehow magically recognize it as having once been part of a pig.
Pigs may be smart, but that’s still some hardcore anthropomorphizing.
I’ve been working on art about my dog that passed away these last couple of months for my personal project in Art school. This is something very personal and dear to me, and to be honest, I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved..
Today I had my ‘Green Light’ presentation to see if I may graduate with my work for so far. We have crappy presentation facilities but I tried my best to make something decent..(If you have any tips on how to show my ceramics, please pm me!)
I passed, but it still left me with a bad feeling, like all the presentations in all these years in Artschool do..I feel like I can never please the teachers with my art as they rarely have anything nice to say..but maybe I get overly emotional when they say something negative…anyway..it makes me feel kinda worthless..
I’m in my last year and I’m seriously so done and wish to be graduated soon and make all the art that I want to make and not care about what teachers think…
If it makes you feel any better at least 40% of all art teachers have the taste of a DMV retiree with astigmatism
These are really precious. I think the ceramic one showing the dog throughout its life journey is really neat.
From the Creationist Wiki, which is apparently a thing that exists.
No evidence for feathered dinosaurs. Right.
There have been some fake fossils from China. So? These have been uncovered very quickly, and the vast majority are reputable. And other countries have fossil fakers too – why does China always get singled out?
Creationists or not, people who reject genuine evidence *AREN’T SCIENTISTS*!!!!!
That’s it. That’s the end. That’s the fact. There’s no more to that statement.
Also what is the deal with these people always using the word “prove”? First thing you learn about science is the scientific method. Things can either be supported or fail to be supported by evidence. There is no “proving” anything. If you can’t be bothered to understand the most basic concept of science then no one in the field has any reason to take you seriously.
I still don’t understand why you would need a dog to keep you away from wheat. What kinda white nonsense…
If that girl ingests food containing gluten during lunch she could get severely sick or even die. It costs $0 to not be a stupid bitch.
In some cases people can get ill from even being around too much gluten, and sometimes it takes less than 10 parts per million of gluten to cause an attack. It’s important to have a service dog to keep people safe or from making vital mistakes. There are even things like bug spray that can contain gluten, and dogs can alert you to wash it off before it’s too late. Here’s an article that talks about the importance and usefulness of celiac alert dogs: https://celiac.org/blog/2014/12/can-service-dogs-help-sniff-gluten/
An informed/appropriate response^
Thank you!
Your original post was rude as fuck, you dumbass. Don’t try to put that on everyone else.
My mom has celiac disease. If food (or even just cooking surfaces or dishes the food was prepared on) have touched something with gluten, she can’t eat it. I would assume this girl brings her own lunches to school because the cafeteria would have to make food for her in a completely separate area so there wouldn’t be any cross contamination, and it’s safer to just know what you put in there yourself. For my mom, even if a restaurant has gluten free menu items, she has to ask the manager about how and where it’s prepared to make sure it’s actually safe for her.
And we aren’t talking just wheat. It’s specifically gluten, which is a protein found in wheat but which is often separated out and used as an ingredient on its own, and that’s where part of the problem lies. Because like mentioned above, when you start looking for it, it’s kind of amazing the random stuff you’ll find gluten in. The only unexpected food example I can think of at the moment is Twizzlers.
But no, just avoid bread products and you’ll be good, amiright?
