Do you even realize that is this our home. We were blessed with such a beautiful, loving, and magnificent home and look what we have done to it. Mother Nature doesn’t deserve this. We don’t deserve this world we were so graciously given.

K, so this is mostly bollocks.
The Great Barrier Reef is not dead. About a third of the coral in it is dead, and it’s suffering a really bad case of a disease called coral bleaching (which is what caused the photos down below)- but it’s not dead and it has a chance to recover. Hell, you can even see it in the bottom right picture- the only coral that’s actually dead in it is the big dark twiggy bit. The rest of it is still alive- it’s just under stress and so it’s bleached.
This headline pops up just about EVERY YEAR. How can the world’s first 3-parent baby keep getting born over and over again?Let me explain to you why that’s not really what you might think it is based on the headline.
1. This basic technique was first carried out in the 90′s. THOSE KIDS HAVE GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL. They called it 3-parent then, and now they’re calling this almost-identical procedure 3-parent. The difference now is just when the sperm fertilizes the egg, being after the egg nucleus is implanted in the egg of a donor, as opposed to before.
2. This is not a situation where each parent gives a third of their DNA. What’s really happening is that there are TWO parents, and one person, a donor, who is donating the cytoplasm and the non-nucleus organelles of the egg. The donor’s egg nucleus–with all of her ribosomal DNA–is discarded. Then, yes, there is like 0.03% of her DNA that is still there, in the mitochondria. Mitochondira convert ATP into energy but they do not have any fun traits on them like your hair color, personality, predisposition to cancer, or basically anything that you would consider getting from your parents.
3. GMO Babies? If not 3-parent, people call these Genetically modified. I guess they are sort of, but listen. This is not some CRISPR-CAS9 shit where you can cut and paste traits here and there and across individuals and organisms. This is all about this one little organelle. I should also note that, in places where this procedure is legal, there is a focus on discarding the female blastocysts, so that only males are born, who do not pass on mitochondria to their own kids.
In short, it is weirdly common for assisted reproductive technology to be blown out of proportion in headlines. And Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.
It is ridiculously frustrating and down-right infuriating.
On
one side, you have right-wing nutters (most with worryingly fascist
tendencies) who invade tags of anything related to Royalty, Germany or
Prussia. Then you have, in a similar field, people who idolize
absolutism-Monarchs-Church à la Marion Sigaut.
Also, never go
into any famous nazi tag because there is a bunch of people thinking
Goebbels was cute and that Hitler and Speer were “a thing” (Actual
nightmares).
However, it is also true that most of these
people actually do keep to themselves and have their own niches and you
only engage with them if you actually search for it and/or if it
randomly appears on your dash (which in my case it rarely does).
On
the other side, you have the “communists did no wrong” or people who
try to use history to downplay the actual damage made by communist
regimes all over the world.
But again, these people do exist
but their posts aren’t really that widespread on tumblr and when you see
them it’s usual because someone rebbloged a post rebating them.
The
posts that have real impact are the kind of “Cleopatra was black” or
“Beethoven was black” or “White People Are Evil and Everything Bad that
Happened in the World Is Their Fault” or just some blatantly wrong fact
about some historical character or event which was manipulated by social
justice people to turn some Historical character or event into a 21th
century social justice issue. (like that infamous: “Racism was dropping
the bomb on the Japanese instead of the Germans” which is so obviously
wrong at so many levels I can’t even begin to describe it)
Now,
of course that people who think Goebbels was cute or nazis or even
people who think that the DDR was a healthy regime are much more wrong,
misguided and “problematic” than someone who thinks Beethoven was black
or POC or whatever. The problem is that if I write a post going “damn
that Erich Honecker sure was great” that will probably not get 137212
notes (hopefully not). If a Nazi goes “Hitler sure was right” people are
going to go “You’re a disgusting” and it will get a few thousands
notes at most, and the large majority of them will be people agreeing
with the “you’re disgusting” comment.
Misguided and
erroneous information and interpretations being circulated in the name
of social justice have lots, lots of notes and resound throughout the
whole website which makes it much harder for anyone with actual
knowledge to fight back. And because it’s so often under the kind of “we
never learned this at school” thing or “why aren’t we talking about this”
hype, people get really very quickly on board with it.
The
problem, of course, is that most of this information and of these
interpretations are wrong. People often ignore the context and the
mindset of the period and they end up by applying their standards,
concerns, ideas to people who didn’t have – and could not have – any
idea of them. This is anachronism, it’s not good History and it’s
something historians in the last century fought a lot against.
Also, about
most of the information that tumblr believes no one knows and that
has been hidden away by “powers that be”: 1- either that information is just untrue, which
is why no one talks about it OR 2- people actually know about it and it’s
established in Academia only people on tumblr don’t know that because they
don’t bother with research and blindly believe everything someone wrote
on a post.
I am also annoyed at how people think that Academia
is a big conspiracy against POC and women – Academia has huge flaws and
you definitely have to beware when mid-century Historians talk about
race or sexuality but it’s also true that lots of academics were – and
are nowadays – very progressive. For all the historians that deny that
Frederick the Great liked men there are countless others historians that
straight up say that he was gay or that he very likely preferred men.
You can argue that wrong information is spread all over the internet and I agree but this website has a way of spreading that information really fast and it’s not gonna stay buried in some theory-conspiracy website, it’s gonna be moving around and endlessly reblogged.

What I find to be most incredible, most amazing, is that the “source” you linked to is just… a random google+ page that literally says “this is cricket, an albino western screech owl” and then proceeds to post a picture of a totally different bird. The amazing, incredible thing is, Cricket is an ACTUAL albino western screech owl, living at a wildlife center, and if you bothered to google it you would have known that.
The OP literally just ripped a random picture off of google instead of… using the picture of an actual albino owl. I don’t??? Understand?? How they got the owls name, species, etc. correct but… went out of their way to use a different picture??
You literally just pick things up you see on the internet, copy part of what they say, include a picture, and SOMETIMES source it. Without checking to see if any of it is remotely true. You spread so much misinformation it’s really frustrating.
I love that in the original picture the snowy owl appears to have been photoshopped to make it look like its holding that feather too like a snowy owl on its own isnt majestic enough.

Brown went on to discussed the anti-Christianity aspect of his crime, and how he asked the victims religions before killing them.

After Gerod Roth, also known as Geris Hilton, posted to Facebook an image of himself with his colleague’s 3-year-old son Cayden, accompanied by racist comments both from his friends and himself, people were justifiably pissed. Sydney Jade, Cayden’s mom, started the hashtag #HisNameIsCayden in defiance of the derogatory and objectifying remarks — and it took off. Roth was promptly fired — but he that didn’t stop him from making excuses and claiming to be a victim.
“If you are reading this, there is a fairly good chance you think I am deplorable, and with good reason. But before you further the hate that you’ve heard, please hear me out. Over the last week, I have been subject to the harsh words of the masses, locally, nationally as well as internationally, over a picture I had made as my public profile photo. The picture in question, harmlessly enough, depicted me with a co-worker’s son, the little boy’s name was Cayden. Cayden’s mother, Sydney, was an employee of the Polaris Marketing Group office I managed hiring and HR operations for, an employee which I had personally sought out to screen, interview, and hire as a full-time staff member. Sydney would regularly bring Cayden in to the office after daycare, he would run around and play, sit quietly and play games on his mother’s phone, or interact and play with myself and my own daughter when she was in the office. One day, after work, Sydney brought Cayden into the office as per usual, while she went in to the conference room for a meeting I watched Cayden for her. We played catch, chased each other around the office, and played the Minions game on my phone. Cayden asked to take a picture with me, so I obliged and snapped a selfie of us. A couple days later, my lovely girlfriend was going through her final interview process for a large, prestigious company, she asked me to remove the picture of her from my profile pic as she was doing a social media blackout while they researched her online. Being the well-trained boyfriend that I am, I willingly participated. Considering I like to capture most of my favorite life moments on film, my camera roll is filled with over 10k pictures, most of her and I together, the closest picture to the end without her in it, was none other than the one I took of Cayden and myself. I made the picture my profile photo, having zero knowledge or premonition that he would be viciously ripped apart and demonized by random internet acquaintances. It was at this time that Cayden was ruthlessly torn into by those on my friends list, although they made jokes, it was entirely uncalled for. The top or second comment had someone asking “whose adorable kid is that”, in which I replied “It’s my coworkers son, I am watching him while she is in a meeting”, to which they reply “You mean to tell me you just have random kids running wild in your office suite?” and I stated “He was feral”. Never, in a million years, would I ever put any connotation or insinuate that he was feral based off the color of his skin, the nature of his ethnicity, or his descent. The following statement, was meant to be light and playful, and in NO WAY racist or prejudice, I have referred to my own daughter as wild or feral on many instances when she is running around, merely just being the child that she is. It was at that point in time that this comment was cropped out of said photo to edit and doctor the original post to maliciously skew my image as a vile person and open racist, again, this post was doctored and taken out of it’s context in it’s entirety. Upon the slew of commenters from all ethnicities blindly cracking jokes at Cayden’s expense, I put my foot down and stated that people need to stop, due to the fact that they were commenting on a public profile picture, which all of the people in my professional network on FB as well as Sydney herself can see. Upon stating this, these individuals we’re removed from my friend’s list asap as to not associate. A day passed and I was able to change my profile picture back to usual, my mistake itself was not deleting the picture itself or the comments, this left me vulnerable and open to be targeted for a “Troll”. After a 6 day trip with very limited cellular coverage, I came back to Atlanta and resumed to normal life as usual for about a day. On Tuesday, I started noticing a large influx of friend requests with no mutual friends, although odd, I though nothing of it and continued on with my day. Waking up Wednesday morning was when all of the pieces finally started coming together. Upon waking up, I noticed that Facebook had removed the photo after numerous reports from users. My friend request inbox was up to the brim of unknowns trying to make their way into my profile, as well as my “other messages” inbox was spewing with dismay and hate from people far and wide. After a barrage of texts and calls from people telling me what was going on, I took to Twitter, only to find the doctored screenshots from the original profile picture, skewed, misconstrued, falsified and aimed directly at me, targeting myself as the canvas for racism and bigotry, as well as poor Cayden being victimized to the general public. My first emotions were overwhelming, I was angry, betrayed, disappointed, saddened and scared, I honestly did not know what to think. My first thought was “Who dislikes me to the extent where they would go out of their way to falsify the content of my character and depict me as some type of bigoted monster” and my second thought was “why me…”. After over 100k retweets, trends on Twitter, Insta and FB and mostly all major news outlets picking the story up, as well as the loss of jobs, I was left in the shadows and made a victim of someone’s malicious intent to bully myself for unwarranted reasons, and doing their all to ruin my reputation, name and livelihood over something that was inaccurate and completely fake. At this point and time, I have numerous interviews with major media sources waiting to be conducted as well as published, the only thing I can do to help slow the roll of this by offering whatever I can to help Sydney as well as Cayden. They are both people that I consider friends and a part of our work family. I have reached out to Sydney twice now, stating my regret and apologizing sincerely, and offered to do anything possible to make amends. In the future I would love to see this turn into something positive for both Sydney and Cayden, I would like nothing more than to our collective online presence turn this into something beneficial for both of them as well as to help curb both online bullying and remove the veil of anonymity that many hide behind whilst ridiculing or harassing people on the internet for any reason. For anyone who this has affected in a negative manner either in my personal and professional life, I am beyond words by how sorry I am of the outcome. I can say that I truly did try my best to curb the racism in the thread and took every opportunity available to to take a stand and tell others to stop. I am sorry to the employers who have had this negative and falsified impression of myself tied or affiliated with their respective businesses in any way. I am sorry to the people who were heartbroken to see Cayden victimized in that manner, I am right there with you. I am sorry to the friends and family who immediately contacted me out of fear and worry over the situation. But most of all, I am sorry to Sydney and Cayden, this entire fiasco was never meant to cause any harm,bigotry, racism, or negative demeanor from anyone for any reason whatsoever, and know that I did do my all to stop people from making these comments. I know my apology will take a long time to be accepted, but I wanted my side to be known. To the friends, family, and acquaintances that have reached out to me, confident in my character and fully knowing that I would NEVER allow this to happen on my public profile or any other social media platform, I tremendously appreciate your love and support. Those that know me or are barely even acquainted with me are fully aware that I am an open, accepting human being, someone who would never discriminate against anyone for any reason and is always willing to give a person the benefit of the doubt. The sad thing is that I can totally see such falsification coming from pitiful excuses for media like Buzzfeed and Mic. Gross. Gross all around, but If what this man says is true, he is truly the victim here.
So people are freaking out about Windows 10′s “Wi-Fi Sense” app.
The assumption that Tumblr is taking as fact because that’s what Tumblr does:
“Wi-Fi Sense gives your wi-fi password to your Skype friends list, your Facebook friends list, your AIM friends list, and every other friends list on your computer; all without you knowing. Please be informed and follow this tutorial to turn it off.”
The truth:
– Wi-Fi Sense has to be manually downloaded, first off.
– Secondly, it doesn’t give your wi-fi password out. It gives access to your network to anyone on your Skype/Facebook/whatever buddy lists, so they don’t need you to TELL THEM your password.
– The purpose of this is simple: If your friends come over with their laptop and they wanna use your internet, you can passively give them access because you have them on your Skype buddy list. This way, you don’t have to give them a receipt with blue sharpie on it that has a fucking 480 character password on it so they can get into your wi-fi.
– The password isn’t stored anywhere on their computer, it’s stored on yours, just as it’s always been, just as it always will be. All Wi-Fi Sense does is give them access to your wi-fi without a password.
– Therefore, Wi-Fi Sense is actually leaps and bounds more safe and secure than just normal wi-fi usage. You literally don’t have to tell anyone your password. Like ever. Hell you don’t even have to tell it to your own family, you can just select their computer on the network and allow or deny them access remotely.
I’m not gonna ask everyone to spread the word here because it’s gonna fall on deaf ears once it hits the Anti-Win10 crowd, but if you’ve been seeing the BS about Wi-Fi Sense going around, don’t believe it. Once again, Tumblr is extremely misinformed and didn’t take the time to search Google for about 12 seconds.
