When you get to Chapter 4 in Mother 3

I may have finished Mother 3 but boy I ain’t finished with Mother 3.

It is done.

This is very important.

Mother 3 is so good because it journeyed through all nine circles of Development Hell and made it out stronger.

And originally when I made this joke I thought I was being witty but it turns out Development Hell is an actual thing and guess what’s listed as an example??

Claus’s revenge tantrum is kind of incredible though for a couple of reasons:

Unless they were beating stuff up on the way back from Alec’s house, he’s the same level he was during the Mole Cricket fight which is like level 1
He managed to get his tiny Lv1 ass all the way to the frickin’ Drago Plateau, taking the long way, without running into any Mighty Bitey Snakes or Agitated Boars or Crag Lizards or the like (or he’s just really good at running away from battles). Which is impressive.
He managed to get his tiny Lv1 ass all the way to the frickin’ Drago Plateau after stopping by Aeolia’s house and not once that whole way there did he stop and think “you know this is a really fricking stupid plan, I should probably go back”. Which is also impressive, but not in a good way.

I’ve been ripping Mother 3 stuff for The Spriters Resource (initially just maps that were missing but now I’ve gone off the deep end and I’m doing battle backgrounds too) and

in the site update a few days ago

I and one other person were specifically mentioned as big contributors to the Mother 3 stuff and I’m experiencing a weird combination of pride and shame.

The Rock Lobster is one of my favorite Mother 3 enemies. Just look at him.

Not only is it a nice visual pun, but it’s also very likely a song reference.

Plus, when you turn it around in battle, that thumbs-up definitely doesn’t look like a thumbs-up anymore.

I like the implication here that if it wasn’t out of reach, he’d pick it up.
